Juha (as he’s known in the Arab world), or Shaikh Nasruddin (as he’s known around the rest of the world) is an Islamic Folklore character. I grew up with his silly funny stories and so, I always thought he was Arab; but open this discussion and it’ll come to blows as the Iranians claim him to be Persian; the Turks swear he born in Aksehir and even parts of Russia bet his origins lie with them. As divisive as that sounds it’s the closest character I’ve found to uniting all countries with a shared Islamic history.
Hundreds of small tales are told of him across all of these countries, most of them comedic. However, as funny as they appear on the surface, some point to hidden layers of meaning for the wise to unearth from beneath the obvious laughs *grins*
Here, I translate and adapt into comics/manga these tales with the hope of ultimately publishing them together in sets of books as I’m done ~___^!
I’m working on them simultaneously in Arabic AND English so they’ll be available in both ; and I’ll upload some of the episodes here in due time inshallah
